The Pikey Peak Trek takes you to the Everest region, specifically the lower Solukhumbu, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural exploration. Along the way, you will explore traditional Sherpa villages, learning about their rich culture, Buddhist traditions, and unique way of life. At higher altitudes, you can observe Sherpa herders living with their mountain cattle (yak and nak) in the alpine forests. The region is also famous for its local dairy products, including Nak cheese and traditional Sherpa cheese (Chhurpi), as well as a variety of organic crops and vegetables.
The trek takes you through dense rhododendron and pine forests, home to diverse wildlife such as langurs, deer, Himalayan black bears, yaks, and the colorful Himalayan Monal (Munal), Nepal’s national bird. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Your guide will provide a detailed briefing about the itinerary and trekking program. The next day, your journey towards the Himalayan foothills begins.
We embark on a scenic drive towards Dhap, which takes approximately 6 to 7 hours. Along the way, we pass through beautiful countryside landscapes, terraced fields, and traditional villages. As we reach Dhap, we are greeted with stunning views of the Everest region.
An early morning sunrise over the Himalayas is a perfect way to start the day. After breakfast, we set off on a gentle trek through forests and rolling hills, enjoying breathtaking mountain views along the way. We reach Jhapre, a traditional Sherpa village, by late afternoon.
Today’s trek takes us deeper into the wilderness, walking through dense rhododendron and pine forests. As we gain altitude, the views of Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga become even more spectacular. We reach Pikey Base Camp by evening, ready for an exciting summit push the next day.
An early morning ascent to Pikey Peak (4,067m) rewards us with one of the best panoramic sunrise views in Nepal. The Everest range, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Makalu shine in the golden morning light. After enjoying the breathtaking scenery, we descend to Serlo Monastery, a peaceful Buddhist retreat nestled in the hills.
We start the day by participating in a Buddhist meditation ceremony at Serlo Monastery. After breakfast, we descend to Junbesi, a charming Sherpa village. After a short tea break, we visit Thuptenchholing Monastery, one of the largest and most significant monasteries in the region. A short uphill walk offers a stunning viewpoint of the monastery and surrounding Sherpa villages. We also visit a yak farm, where we learn about traditional nomadic life in the Himalayas.
After breakfast, we hike towards Furtehng, a spectacular viewpoint of Mount Everest. The trail continues through Sherpa villages, offering breathtaking mountain views and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for a meditative trekking experience. We finally reach Taksindu La, where we settle in for the night.
On this final trekking day, we walk through lush forests of pine and rhododendron, with majestic peaks standing tall behind us. Though it marks the end of our trek, this peaceful journey through nature will leave lasting memories.
We return to Kathmandu either by a 35-minute scenic flight or an overland drive (9 hours), enjoying the last glimpses of the Himalayan landscapes.
